P25 Police Scanner
P25 Scanner: Project 25 APCO-25
APCO-25 or P-25 is the standard created for digital trunked radio broadcast systems currently in use by most emergency and law enforcement organizations. This new system differs greatly from the old analog radios of the past. You cannot listen to digital trunked radio transmissions with an older style analog police scanner. Most modern organizations have moved to the newer digital standard, although there are still some organizations that still use the older analog radios. The control channel generally stays within the same frequency at all times, while each individual unit in the fields radio frequency can change with each transmission per the control channels request. Each ground units radios have a specific group or channel ID that helps identify them regardless of wha frequency range they are transmitting from. It is recommended to have one SDR tuned to the control channel, and one SDR tuned to the frequency range the ground units will operate on.
Stay Updated: If the communications grid fail and you can no longer access the internet or TV you can still stay updated. You can listen in to the Fire Department, The EMS, The Hospitals, and the Police to stay informed on the current situation that is unfolding around you. Do not get left in the dark.
Situational Awareness: With this technology you can hear in real time as the transmission is being broadcast from each user to get real time updates. This is critical for situational awareness of the area you are currently in, or before you decide to leave your home. The best part is that No internet connection is required. Other online internet based broadcasting services and apps are up to 2 minutes delayed which is unacceptable for a rapidly unfolding event or crisis. Most P25 radio channels are not encrypted and can be heard, while encrypted channels can not.
